How do you go from idea to revenue-generating web app?

May 12, 2006 | by Lukasz | in Blog, Product Development Exposed | 0 comments

I was inspired by the Bare Naked App blog that covers the development of Carson Systems' new web app. It's a great idea to let everybody in on the actual process of developing a real web application product. The 37signals have done that already in their Getting Real book to some extent.

As we're getting pretty close to launching the WAL beta, I can't really provide you with the same coverage that Carson's blog has, but I'll start covering the process from today on.

In last few days we had a little shake-up in the company, because we realized the potential of a completely different product that could be of tremendous value to website developers. I don't want to reveal to much about either product, but I'll say this: WAL is meant to streamline the website development process, whereas our next product will most likely help website designers to better manage their fast-growing customer base.

It's great to embrace new ideas, but we decided that it would be foolish to delay the launch of WebAssemblyLine™ in order to initiate the work on the new product.

More on how we develop WAL coming soon, as we count down the number of days to the beta launch.
